Applications Now Open for the 2026 James Bullbrook Memorial Scholarship
After three great years, Curious Public is excited to launch round four
Toronto, Ontario, January 27, 2026 – Curious Public is now accepting applications for the 2026 James Bullbrook Memorial Scholarship, which will give$500 USD to support one Canadian skateboarder’s attendance at Woodward Skateboarding Camp in Pennsylvania in the summer of 2026.
The scholarship honours the memory of James Bullbrook, a beloved colleague, friend, and father, by supporting skateboarding families who travel together to help a young skater pursue their passion — just like James did each summer with his son, Richie.
“Woodward was one of the places where we shared some of our best moments together,” said Richie Bullbrook. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity to give another skater the chance to create those same kinds of memories.”
“This scholarship is dedicated to the believers—the parents who see the vision before the rest of the world does,” said Adam Higgins, Interim Executive Director at Canada Skateboard. “In honour of James Bullbrook, this scholarship supports skateboarding families to hit the road together, helping a young skater get the same chance to chase their dreams like Richie had with his father by his side.”
The scholarship is open to Canadian residents between the ages of 7 and 17. Applications open January 27, 2026, and must be submitted by Thursday, April 30, 2026. The selected recipient will receive $500 USD to be used toward attendance at Camp Woodward during the summer of 2026.
Each year, Curious Public invites applications from young skateboarders across Canada and selects one recipient whose story reflects a deep connection between skateboarding, family, and community.
“We’ve met three incredible families so far thanks to James’s memory and I see what he saw thanks to meeting Zoe, Blake, and Charlotte: the skateboarding community is one of the most accepting, supportive, creative, and determined groups out there,” said Lloyd Rang, President and Narrative Lead for Curious Public.
“At Curious Public, storytelling is part of the job. The story of this scholarship began to remember my friend James and connect with his son Richie, who I’m so proud to call a friend. And now, it’s also about telling the story of community, support, connection, and never giving up if you don’t land it the first time.”
