Curious Public Announces Round Three of the James Bullbrook Memorial Scholarship

Applications Now Open for a Chance to Attend Woodward Skateboarding Camp

Toronto, Ontario, January 23, 2025 – Curious Public is proud to announce that applications are now open for the third annual James Bullbrook Memorial Scholarship, a $500 USD award to be used towards a session at Camp Woodward PA this summer. The scholarship honours the late James Bullbrook—a beloved colleague, friend, and father—by celebrating his support for skateboarding and his enduring impact on the community.

“This scholarship allows us to keep my dad’s memory alive in such a meaningful way,” said Richie Bullbrook, James’ son. “Woodward was one of the places where we shared some of our best moments together. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to give another skater the chance to create those same kinds of memories.”

The inaugural recipient, 16-year-old Zoe Zollinger from Nanaimo, BC, attended Woodward in 2023 and described her experience as “100% a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and so worth it.” In 2024, the scholarship was awarded to 14-year-old Blake Marchildon from Orangeville, ON. Reflecting on his time at camp, Blake shared, “It’s one thing to skate alone, but skating with friends makes you want to try new things. I wouldn’t have pulled off those tricks without them hyping me up.”

The James Bullbrook Memorial Scholarship is open to Canadian skaters aged 7–17 as of January 1, 2025. Applications close on April 30, 2025, and the award must be used in the same year it is granted.

“Canada Skateboard is honoured to continue supporting the James Bullbrook Memorial Scholarship for its third year,” said Hagan McCreath, Executive Director, Canada Skateboard.

Curious Public is thrilled to once again partner with Canada Skateboard and Woodward PA to bring this initiative to life. “Canada Skateboard is honoured to continue supporting the James Bullbrook Memorial Scholarship for its third year,” said Hagan McCreath, Executive Director, Canada Skateboard. “This scholarship represents more than financial support—it’s a tribute to James’ inspiring legacy and a testament to the strength and potential of Canada’s skateboarding community. We’re proud to help young skateboarders pursue their passion, develop their skills, and connect with others who share their love for skateboarding.”

Lloyd Rang, President of Curious Public, shared his enthusiasm for the scholarship’s impact. “Every year, we’re amazed by the talent and passion shown by the applicants. This scholarship is about more than skateboarding—it’s about strengthening families and creating lifelong memories. James would be so proud of the incredible skaters who have carried his legacy forward.”
