Job Description
We’re looking for a Communications Specialist Co-op/Intern who will help support internal communications and client work at LRC. More than half of the candidate’s time will be allocated towards a client-facing project that will cover branding, narrative development, content strategy, writing, digital and social media strategy, and graphic design.
We are looking for someone who will be an ambitious and dedicated contributor to our team. If you would describe yourself as a motivated, energetic self-starter who thrives in a team setting, then read on!
The Communications Specialist Co-op/Intern will perform a variety of activities, which may include:
- Joining client calls, note taking, project planning.
- Tracking project deliverables.
- Creating, writing and editing communications materials and presentations – including PowerPoint decks, web copy, blog posts, Op-Eds, etc.
- Supporting internal LRC communications functions – including executing online research, communications plans and tactics.
- Performing research, developing influencer lists and building out communication plans for LRC clients.
- Developing social media content for internal and client channels – including social media posts and infographics.
Reporting Structure
You will report to the Operations and Community Manager – with a direct line to the CEO.
Job Requirements
- Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to develop materials that will make an impact at LRC and for our clients
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high quality work under tight timelines.
- Strong skills in MS Office and Google Suite, preparing presentations, using social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube)
- Advanced PowerPoint experience; someone who can take a concept and illustrate it on paper
- Some experience with graphic design, photo editing and video production (ie: Photoshop, Canva, Promo.com,…)
- Entrepreneurial attitude and a go-getter
- Professional demeanor and a fast learner – willing to put in the time.
The following would be an asset, but not required:
- Experience in an agency setting is an asset
- Interest in the non-profit sector is an asset
- Interest in social and public policy advocacy for solutions to some of our world’s greatest challenges, including racism.

This position is a 6-month paid work term (potential to extend to 8 months) with a flexible start-date ( mid-December or early January)
Pay will with depend on skills and experience.
To be eligible, you must be:
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program that requires the completion of a co-op work term – majoring in Communications, Digital Marketing, Public Relations or related; OR
- A New Graduate / Post Graduate (within the calendar year) willing to work full-time hours for 6 months
