Whenever I tell people about working with LRC, I talk about our skill in narrative development, strategy and content. You know, the communications things we do well. But when I’m asked about what I like about LRC, my answer doesn’t speak to what we do, as much as to who are.
LRC’s team members have worked in the private sector – from large corporations to small start-ups. We’ve also worked in government – from municipal to federal levels; and we’ve worked for broad public sector organizations such as universities and hospitals. We’ve done it all. And when you look deep into what gives us purpose and makes us the most satisfied as professionals it’s this:
We are public servants at heart.
We want to do good things that help people in our communities. We want to be part of building a better, fairer society. And we dream of a world where food, income and housing security, access to healthcare and educational opportunities are not the exception, but the rule.
Of course, getting to that better, fairer society is a bit of a tall order for one communications company. Which is why we’ve taken to heart the words of Archbishop Desmond Tutu when he said: “Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”
LRC Uplift is our little bit of good. It’s our way of supporting local GTA non-profit and charitable organizations who are working hard to make our communities and our people thrive.
So what is LRC Uplift, exactly? Well, every year, we provide our communications services free of charge for one year to a local charity or non-profit. We help them with communications advice, strategy, narrative development and writing – whatever they need to better tell their stories and get their message across.
Last year, we were proud to work with the Urban Alliance on Race Relations. Now it’s time to choose a new organization for us to partner with in 2020-2021.
And that’s where you come in. LRC Uplift gives voice to the importance of all of us working together to uplift and build our communities.
So, if you know of a GTA non-profit/charity who would benefit from LRC Uplift, tell us. You can learn more about our program and the nomination/application process on our website or you can email us at uplift@lloydrang.com.
LRC Uplift helps us add a small bit of good to all the other little bits of good happening in the GTA. Together, we’ll get to that better, fairer society.
